Product Image Admin
This page gives you one central place to review and control your images. Although images are added on an individual product's page, having this central control list is very handy.
Image List Mode
Delete Originals
When images are uploaded they are duplicated and re-sized to fit the various sizes needed. The original image is retained. Clicking the Delete Originals button will delete all original image files from the server, which may be a good idea to clear up server disk space if you have a lot of images.
Delete Unused
As you update or change product images, the previous images remain on the server. The Delete Unused function will clear these off the server. Use with caution. If you have images that you intend on using in the future but are not using now, this function will delete these as well, and you will have to re-upload them.
Delete All
Caution! This button does what is says it does and deletes ALL product images off the server. This may be a good thing if you've been practicing and wish to clear the server and start over, but keep in mind this will delete all of the images and cannot be undone. Proceed with caution.
Search
This allows you to search for a particular image.
Delete Selected
You can select images by clicking the check boxes in the image list, then click this button to delete the images you've selected.
Image List
You can view thumbnails of the images here. If the original image is still on the server, you can view it by clicking on the thumbnail. If the original is no longer on the server, you can view the various image sizes for the associated product by clicking on the product name.
Image Management Mode
When you view this page in Image Management Mode, either by clicking on an image in the image list or by clicking the Products > Image Setup link int the main help menu, You will be able to control the settings for the site globally.
Manage Image Sizes
The first thing you will want to do on this page when setting up your Cartweaver store is go to the Image Setup page Products > Image Setup you will be taken to the control page for size ranges the system will auto size your image to fit within when you upload product images. For a consistent look for all your products you will want to set these ranges to sizes that best suite your site design, then leave them. If you change these later this will not change the sizes of images you have already uploaded and could negatively impact the look of your store. So choose your sizes carefully, then leave them. Remember these ranges are the "box" dimensions your images will fit within - the aspect ratio of your images will not be changed, they will simply be resized so the widest or tallest dimensions of your image will fit within these parameters.
About Image Upload Groups**
As of version 4.02.01 Cartweaver 4 supports multiple images per product. In it's default setting it only has one Image Group, which is the minimum allowed. When there is only one image group the display on the Product Details page in your store will show the default "Details" size image that when clicked will zoom to expanded "Zoom" size. If you add additional image groups, and if a product uses two or more image groups, in other words has multiple images, the presentation product details page in your store will switch to a jQuery powered image gallery that will display a row of thumbnails (the Details Thumbnail size) and one image, the first one starting from the left, in the Details size. Mousing over the thumbnails will change the larger image to match the thumbnail being indicated. Clicking on the Details sized image will produce a "Zoom" sized pop up of the image. Once the pop up is activated you can mouse over the image, then click on the right or left arrows that appear to cycle through all the product images in the gallery.
You can change the positioning and display of the thumbnails in relation to the details image by going to Site Setup > Product Display page and changing the setting is the "Thumbnail Per Row" and Thumbnail Position" fields.
Setting Up Multiple images
The best process for setting up multiple images is to first create a single product, with ONLY ONE image. Then look at this product in your store details page and check to be sure the size of the images are correct. It may take a couple of tries to get it right. Here's what you do...
Upload an image, see if the sizes are correct.
If the image sizes need to be adjusted, delete the image from the product, return to the image set up page and adjust the sizes, go back to the product, upload a new image and check it on the store product details page again.
Remember, changing image size settings will only effect the images uploaded after the setting change, the previously uploaded images will not be changed, they will need to be deleted and re-uploaded, so it is best to get the sizing right at the beginning of the product creation process. But if you find you do need to adjust the sizes, it's good to know you can. If you have multiple Image Groups be sure to make the same size adjustments to all groups.
Once you are satisfied that the image sizes are good you can proceed with adding new image groups to allow you to upload additional images for your products.
Add New Upload Group
Once you are ready to add additional image groups, simply click the "Add New Upload Group" button and a new group will be added with the same settings as the original group. You can add as many groups as you like. You can also delete groups if you find you have added more than you need. You will be able to add one product image for each group you add.
It is highly recommended that do not alter the names, sizes or folder names in any of the groups once you have started adding images as this will create unfavorable results!
Once you have added image groups you will be given the option to add multiple images for each product, although this is not required.
